When working figuratively, I seek to catch the essence, creating a work of art not a photograph. Catching something that makes everyone unique and special. 

When painting I turn something invisible (the idea) into something visible in material. In doing so, I give the material form and meaning. This can only succeed through mastery of the craft, patience and diligence - the transformation of the idea into material - a painting with a feeling life and space.
