Live Painting at the "Ackerkonzert" 22nd July 2023

I was delighted to be asked to paint the "Ackerkonzert" held at Hofgut Rengoldshausen in Überlingen, Germany on Saturday, 22nd July.

The concert was organised by Bio Stiftung Schweiz and Boden Fruchtbarket Fonds.

The soil is under constant threat because we have lost our connection to it, however, rely on the ground to provide us with food. The concert, played by the Staatsphilharomnie Nürnberg, was to raise awareness of the state of the soil and collect money for the organisations working to rescue and improve soil health.

I painted the concert - an exhilarating exercise in concentration and colour!

The painting and 2 charcoal sketches will be auctioned off (date to be announced) and 50% of the money raised will go to the Boden Fruchtbarkeit Fonds.

It really was the most amazing experience and the feeling the music gave me entered into my painting movements. I found myself moving my paintbrush in time to the wonderful sounds blossoming around me.

Do you have an event coming up that you would like to see captured in paint? The wonderful thing about a painting is, it is so much more atmospheric than a photograph. A photo just takes a cut out of reality, but doesn't add the human element, because of course the camera is a machine. When I paint the emotions I feel while studying my subject come out undiluted onto the paper/canvas. I can also play tricks with timing - you'll see that my painting of the concert has various people standing at the front talking about why this is important. They didn't of course speak at the same time, but between pieces of music. However, as an artist, I can compose the work so they are united in their efforts to bring our attention to the fate of our soil.

If you have an event, a wedding or such that you would like to have caught in paint - atmospherically, not realistically - then do get it touch. I would love to hear from you.
