Waving at Clouds
Do you love watching clouds dance across the sky, lit by sunlight? Ever found yourself waving your arms joyfully in the breeze—just because?
I was fortunate to paint en plein air at 2100 metres above sea level in Graubünden, Switzerland, every summer from 2019 to 2022. Each year, I spent a week free from outside interruptions, fully immersed in the alpine landscape, responding to its majesty with brush and paint.
This painting was created just behind the alpine hut where I stayed, beneath a steep cliff. I stood below it, looking upward—capturing a perspective of light, air, and quiet wonder.
When you wave at clouds, do they wave back?
Look closely and you might see the grasses in this painting waving at the sky, full of gentle motion and shimmering light. Let yourself be soothed by that rhythm, by the sense of stillness and life intertwined.
