Things that go Bump in the Night - Original Abstract Oil Painting
Enigmatic, slightly dark and mystical... are those words that make you curious?
What is it about the night that sets our imagination free?
Shadows deepen, familiar shapes become mysterious, and the ordinary world seems to transform into something altogether more extraordinary.
Things That Go Bump in the Night is an original abstract oil painting exploring the mysterious world of darkness, imagination and the unknown.
Painted predominantly in rich, atmospheric blues, with flashes of yellow and red, this expressive artwork invites you into a world where shapes appear, disappear and transform before your eyes.
Look closely. What can you see?
Perhaps something is hiding in the shadows. Perhaps a strange creature is emerging from the darkness. Or perhaps the painting suggests an entirely different story to you.
I deliberately leave my abstract paintings open to interpretation. Rather than telling you what you should see, I want to awaken your imagination and allow you to discover your own stories within the colours and forms.
The title Things That Go Bump in the Night evokes the mysterious sounds and imagined creatures that have fascinated us since childhood. It speaks to our ancient relationship with darkness, when the world becomes less certain and our imagination takes over.
My artistic practice explores the relationship between the visible world and the imaginal, the mysterious realm we perceive with our inner eye. I am fascinated by what lies beyond the immediately recognisable, by the sense that the world contains more than we can explain.
In this painting, deep blues create an atmosphere of mystery and depth. I have used genuine cobalt blue pigment, a beautiful artist's colour whose particular character gives the painting a richness and presence that is difficult to reproduce on a screen.
Touches of yellow and red introduce contrast and unexpected energy, drawing the eye through the composition.
The result is a painting that does not reveal itself all at once. Instead, it invites you to look again, to explore and perhaps to discover something new every time.
A celebration of mystery, imagination and the extraordinary worlds that exist just beyond the familiar.
With its atmospheric colours and intriguing composition, Things That Go Bump in the Night brings depth, character and a sense of enchantment into your home.
A painting for those who enjoy a little mystery and believe that imagination makes life infinitely richer.
