Have you ever stood before a mountain landscape and felt that anything was possible?

Perhaps you have overcome a challenge that once seemed insurmountable. Or gazed towards the horizon, longing for something you cannot quite name.

In the Distance is an original acrylic painting on paper, inspired by the magnificent mountain landscapes of Graubünden in the Swiss Alps.

A world of mountains and sky

Between 2019 and 2022, I had the wonderful opportunity to spend one week each summer painting en plein air at 2,100 metres above sea level.

Living high in the mountains, away from the distractions of everyday life, I could devote myself entirely to observing the landscape.

The immense skies, the movement of clouds, the changing light and the distant mountain ranges became my companions.

There is something extraordinary about spending hours looking at a landscape. What initially appears familiar begins to reveal an endless variety of colours, shapes and moods.

In In the Distance, green mountain slopes lead the eye towards the far horizon, beneath an expansive sky filled with drifting clouds.

I wanted to capture that wonderful feeling of space, the freedom of looking far beyond our immediate surroundings.

The mountains within us

For me, landscape painting is never simply about recording a beautiful view.

Mountains can remind us of the obstacles we have overcome, the journeys we have undertaken and the possibilities that still lie ahead.

A distant horizon can awaken memories, hopes or a sense of longing.

I believe nature is alive, and that our relationship with it can help us discover something about ourselves.

In the Distance invites you to let your eyes wander across the landscape, to pause for a moment and perhaps find a little space for your own thoughts and dreams.

Bring the freedom of the Alps into your home

Measuring 50 × 60 cm, this original acrylic painting on paper brings the spaciousness and atmosphere of the Swiss mountains indoors.

Its fresh greens, soft blues and expressive clouds would make it a beautiful addition to a living room, bedroom or study.

I particularly love the idea of living with a landscape painting. It becomes a window into another world, somewhere your imagination can travel whenever you need a moment of freedom.

A painting about distant horizons, the mountains we climb and the extraordinary beauty of the world around us.
