A Christmas tree filled with memories, delicate colour and festive wonder.

Soft pink, golden yellow and shimmering silver baubles nestle among the green branches of a small Christmas tree. Delicate bead garlands tumble over the rim of its terracotta pot, while a rocking horse, a little reindeer and treasured Christmas cards complete the intimate scene.

In Christmas Tree 2024, Sibylle Laubscher captures the quiet enchantment of Christmas at home. Expressive brushstrokes and a luminous palette of pastel pinks, turquoise blues, soft greens and warm golds transform a familiar festive arrangement into a vibrant exploration of colour, light and form.

The decorations seem to hold memories of Christmases past. Each ornament has its own character, suggesting the traditions and personal stories that make a Christmas tree so much more than a seasonal decoration.

The painting moves between careful observation and expressive abstraction. Shapes dissolve into colour, light dances across the branches, and the familiar becomes something almost dreamlike.

An original contemporary Christmas painting celebrating the beauty of cherished objects, the pleasure of decorating and the wonder of the festive season.

A joyful and atmospheric artwork to bring colour, warmth and a little Christmas magic into your home.
