Nature's Secrets and Energies

These pieces are currently not available in my web shop. Should you fall in love with an original artwork, please contact me.

I want to paint more than nature, to to draw viewers into the magical world we inhabit—and so often destroy. Adding fairies and others to my images of nature, painted from observation, is a statement about nature's energies and aliveness. There is so much about the animate world that we haven't yet discovered - and can only be seen with our heart's eye.

Fairies are a gentle counterpoint to the constant flow of negative imagery. Imagination with sprinkling of inspiration. Starting with sketches inspired by Cicely Mary Barker, I then used my sketches of ballet students as a starting point (I spent 6 years painting in a local ballet studio, you can see some of my work from then here). As time goes by, I delve ever deeper into the secrets and depths of the natural world, using my painting as a medium for communication.
