A little indulgence, a moment of pleasure.

Slices of chocolate cake sit beneath a glass dome in a café display, surrounded by shimmering reflections of turquoise, violet, deep blue and soft yellow light.

Chocolate Cake transforms a simple everyday temptation into a vibrant exploration of colour, light and form. The rich chocolate browns contrast with the cool, luminous blues and greens of the glass, while expressive brushstrokes capture the fascinating distortions and reflections of the display.

There is something almost magical about the way glass changes what we see, creating unexpected shapes, layers and glimpses of the world beyond. The familiar cake becomes part of a larger composition of reflections, transparency and colour.

Playful yet carefully observed, this original contemporary still life celebrates the small pleasures of everyday life and the beauty found in ordinary surroundings. Enjoy a slice without the calories!

A distinctive artwork for anyone who loves colour, café culture and, of course, chocolate cake!

On display for the first time since its making in Basel from mid-November
